For a while now people have underestimated the importance of the manufacturing industry. Manufacturing does so much for the economy and helps drive innovation. The industry has come so far from where it started. No more are manufacturing facilities dark, dirty and dangerous, now there is a focus on technology and innovation. These are some quick facts about the manufacturing industry that help show how important it is for the overall health of the economy. As more manufacturers invest heavily into R&D more innovations continue to arise out from the industry and continue to benefit not only manufacturers but any business connected to the supply chain.

1. If the U.S. manufacturing industry was its own economy it would be the 9th largest economic power in the world. (1)

2. Manufacturing jobs are on the rise for the fifth consecutive year. (2)
