Aviation 17: Soaring Toward a Better Aerospace Industry

Today, Thursday March 2nd, marks the beginning of the US Chamber of Commerce’s annual Aviation Summit in Washington D.C. The event is taking place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, runs from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. ET, and features some of the leading names in the Aerospace industry.

One of the highlights of this years conference is a downlink with NASA astronauts currently living and working on the international space station. The broadcast is going to be live on NASA TV for everyone to watch.

1.Airports Panel: “Innovating Beyond the Security Lines”

Airports have done a lot of work to improve pre board security and international travel in recent years but there is still much to be done. This panel will discuss various ways to redesign facilities, implement new technologies, and find safety measures for ever-evolving threats and increasing passenger traffic. The panel will be moderated by Kevin M. Burke, President & CEO of Airports Council International. Speaking on the topic will be Kim Day, CEO of Denver International Airport; Sean Donohue, CEO of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport; Michael Morell, Former Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency; John E. Potter, President & CEO of Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

2.Manufacturing Panel: Steering Global Aerospace Manufacturing and Operations in Dynamic Times

The Aerospace Industry is a constantly evolving industry. Manufacturing and new innovations must be implemented to sustain this growth and keep aircraft safe and in the air. This panel will discuss ways to use new technologies and ideas to bolster global manufacturing efforts for the Aerospace industry. The panel will be moderated by David F. Melcher, President and CEO of Aerospace Industries Association. Speaking on the topic will be Richard Baldridge, President and COO of ViaSat Inc.; Ryan M. Hartman, President/CEO of Insitu Inc.; Robert F. Leduc, President of Pratt & Whitney; Eric A. Mendelson, Co-President of HEICO Corporation; and Gary J. Spulak, President of Embraer Aircraft Holding Inc.

3.Airline CEO Panel: Maintaining Speed and Altitude

This informative panel will give viewers insight into the strategies used by top owners of Aerospace businesses. The panel will be moderated by Allan McAtor, Chairman of Airbus Americas. Speaking on the panel will be William J. Flynn., President and CEO of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings; Maurice J. Gallagher Jr., Chairman and CEO of Allegiant Travel Company; Robin Hayes, President and CEO of JetBlue Airways; and Brad Tilden Chairman and CEO of Alaska Air Group and Alaska Airlines.
