In an effort to make manufacturing more appealing to a generation that is trending away from the growing industry, Manufacturing USA, America Makes, the United States Department of Defense and other announced the Science + Innovation Awards. The awards show will feature Hollywood celebrities and stars in the fields of science and manufacturing in an interactive mashup of pop culture, science and technology.
The awards will be given to students and educators in the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) fields with an awards ceremony broadcast on CBS television. The awards will be presented to individuals and teams. Educators and community leaders will receive the Manufacturing Innovation Champion Award. Student awards are open to any student from grade six to graduate-level and will fall into three categories; individual male, individual female, and team project. Manufacturing USA will work with the show’s producers to select the winners. The show will be taped in Burbank, California on Saturday, November 10th 2018.
