New England-based robotics company Boston Dynamics released a video of some of their products dancing to “Do You Love Me?” by the Contours and the video has become a viral sensation.

The video, produced by Boston Dynamics, was released on December 29th by Boston Dynamics on their YouTube channel. It shows 3 of the company’s robots performing a complex dance routine set to the Motown classic. The robots, Atlas, Handle and Spot was produced to showcase the robot’s incredible dexterity and advanced machine learning capabilities.

“Our whole crew got together to celebrate the start of what we hope will be a happier year. Happy New Year from all of us at Boston Dynamics,” the company tweeted when releasing the video.

Boston Dynamics has been around for 28 years, and while their robots are impressive, they have not quite achieved the commercial success some might have hoped for. They currently have just a handful of clients for the robots which are designed to perform dangerous or mundane tasks not desirable by humans. The company has changed hands a number of times, having first been acquired by Google, then SoftBank, and most recently by Hyundai, who purchased an 80% share for the company for $1.1 billion in December.

In a statement released to announce the purchase, Euisun Chung, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group said ”We are delighted to have Boston Dynamics, a world leader in mobile robots, join the Hyundai team. We will also contribute to the society by enhancing its safety, security, public health amid global trends of an aging society and digital transformation.”
