Aerospace Industry skills gapCollege Receives $2.6M Grant to Help Bridge the Skills Gap in Aerospace, Manufacturing Jobs

As part of the Job Growth Grant Fund for Florida, Governor Rick Scott announced funding of more than $10 million for colleges in the state to improve their facilities to better prepare students for careers in aerospace and manufacturing. One of the main beneficiaries of the grant was Eastern Florida State College located in Brevard county which received $2.6 million to train students for jobs in the aerospace and hi-tech manufacturing sectors. Many of the leading organizations in the aerospace and hi-tech sector like the Kennedy Space Center, Patrick Air Force Base, Lockheed Martin and Harris Corp are located within Brevard county. Mack TruckMack Defense Wins $296.4 Million Army Contract

Pennsylvania based Mack Defense has partnered with the U.S. Army to provide  up to 683 armor-capable or armored 20-ton dump trucks. The contract, a 7-year, firm-fixed-price deal valued at up to $296.4 million is one of the largest in Mack Defense’s history. (Read More)
